Accountant – Portuguese Certified Accountant (CC)

About the role

ARC Ratings is looking for a fluent English‑speaking Portuguese Certified Accountant (CC) in good standing with the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados (OCC). The role will own the accounting, tax and payroll obligations of ARC Ratings, S.A. and provide support to other Group entities across the UK, US and Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain day‑to‑day accounting records in accordance with Portuguese accounting standards (SNC) and act as the appointed CC for the entity.
• Own the general ledger and manage the full month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Handle tax compliance and remittance for corporate and indirect taxes (IRC, VAT) and employment taxes (IRS withholding, Social Security).
• Process weekly bill payments in line with Group Finance Policy.
• Run monthly payroll, calculate and remit Social Security contributions, and manage payroll edge cases such as new joiners, leavers and statutory leave.
• Produce payroll records, salary transfer instructions, payslips and employment confirmations.
• Act as primary contact for statutory and Group audits, providing year‑end audit support.
• Support other Group businesses with intercompany reconciliations and cross‑charging as capacity allows.

Required profile

• Portuguese Certified Accountant (CC) in good standing with the OCC.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
• Strong technical knowledge of Portuguese statutory accounting and tax requirements.
• Experience owning the full accounting cycle, including month‑end and year‑end closes.
• Ability to work in an international, English‑speaking environment.
