Senior Software Architect – Java, Spring Boot & Azure

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Architect to join our international product development team in Lisbon. You will design and evolve cloud‑native backend solutions for a fast‑growing B2B platform, working closely with engineers, product managers and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
• Define and evolve service architectures focused on scalability, reliability, security and maintainability.
• Promote best practices such as Domain‑Driven Design, Clean Architecture and software craftsmanship.
• Create clear architecture documentation (arc42, C4) and communicate decisions across teams.
• Contribute throughout the full software lifecycle, from design to deployment and operations.
• Build and improve cloud‑native solutions within Microsoft Azure environments.
• Support Infrastructure‑as‑Code, CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Mentor developers and provide technical guidance.
• Explore AI‑powered development tools to boost productivity and quality.

Required profile

• Strong experience in software or solution architecture, or senior backend engineering.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Deep understanding of DDD, Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, microservices and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing REST APIs, event‑driven systems and enterprise integrations.
• Familiarity with architecture documentation frameworks such as arc42 or C4.
• Experience developing cloud‑native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid knowledge of modern engineering practices, including Clean Code and TDD.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven, Gradle, NoSQL databases and related development tools.
• Professional English communication skills.
