Senior Quality Engineer - AI-Driven Testing & Quality

About the role

InnoWave is seeking a senior quality engineer to lead AI‑driven testing initiatives. The role is hybrid and based in Portugal, working closely with product, engineering and leadership to raise the quality bar across UI, API and data layers.

Key responsibilities

• Audit existing test coverage, tooling and processes to pinpoint real risk areas.
• Define a target‑state automation architecture and a staged migration path, including proofs of concept and cost‑justified tool selections.
• Close testability gaps such as unstable environments, non‑deterministic data and missing seams.
• Design and implement UI (Selenium, Playwright, BrowserStack), API and database tests in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or C#.
• Validate data at rest using SQL and NoSQL, and verify data‑layer changes (migrations, parity checks).
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates, including performance, load and security testing.
• Maintain portable test infrastructure (containerised runners, self‑hosted grids) and manage test data (masking, synthetic generation).
• Leverage AI tools for test generation, log analysis and defect clustering, providing ROI‑focused recommendations.
• Produce quality dashboards and executive release reports with clear go/no‑go guidance.
• Act as QE lead within Agile squads, mentor on‑shore/off‑shore teams and collaborate with developers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of software quality engineering experience, owning test strategy across multiple layers.
• Proven track record of building or rebuilding automation from scratch.
• Strong communication skills, able to influence non‑direct reports and present release recommendations.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
