Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Reporting to the Legal Manager, the Senior Legal Counsel will act as a commercially‑oriented business partner for development and IPP teams, providing legal support across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and revision of public tenders, ensuring regulatory compliance and validating binding documents such as bid bonds and consortium agreements.
• Secure real‑estate and environmental aspects of projects and draft, review, and negotiate contracts including NDAs, LOIs, MoUs, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, PPAs, hedges and TSO agreements.
• Advise on project financing, direct agreements, guarantees and assist in financial close, satisfaction of conditions precedent and waivers.
• Identify potential claims, define and implement litigation strategies, and coordinate external law firms.
• Draft and negotiate joint‑venture documents (LOIs, MoUs, SHAs) and support co‑development/co‑investment platforms.
• Conduct risk assessments, prepare notes for commitment committees, management and boards, and monitor regulatory matters including antitrust across jurisdictions.
• Lead modernization initiatives within the legal department and protect the group’s reputation against criminal risks.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Law (civil law and/or common law).
• At least 10 years of experience in business law, with a focus on energy or infrastructure projects.
• Deep knowledge of renewable‑energy projects, international tenders and commercial negotiations.
• Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate across departments and work in a multicultural, multi‑time‑zone environment.
• International commercial experience and strong analytical/problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Fluent English (French is a plus).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project).
