Senior Android Developer

About the role

IRIUM is looking for a Senior Android Developer to take full ownership of complex features, deliver clean Kotlin code, and ensure a high‑quality user experience on Android devices. You will work in a hybrid setting across Lisbon, Braga and Coimbra, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ship modern, performant applications.

Key responsibilities

• Feature Ownership: design, implement and deploy end‑to‑end epics, including API contract negotiation.
• Code Mastery: write idiomatic Kotlin and build responsive UIs with Jetpack Compose.
• Architectural Mastery: maintain Clean Architecture and MVVM/MVI patterns for modular development.
• Performance & Stability: hunt memory leaks, optimise network efficiency and reduce app startup times.
• DevOps & Automation: contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Azure/Bitrise) for automated testing and deployment.
• Quality Guard: lead testing efforts with robust unit and UI tests.
• Technical Problem Solving: act as the go‑to person for high‑priority production issues and Android OS fragmentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional Android development experience.
• Fluent English (minimum B2 level) – profile and interview must be in English.
• Ability to pass a live coding exercise as part of technical validation.

• Kotlin (Coroutines, Flow, Inline classes)
• Jetpack Compose (2+ years in production)
• Clean Architecture, MVVM/MVI
• Dependency Injection (Hilt or Dagger2)
• Networking (Retrofit, OkHttp, Apollo GraphQL)
• Persistence (Room or SQLDelight)
• Testing (JUnit, Mockito/MockK, Espresso, Compose Test)
• CI/CD tools (Azure, Bitrise)
• Google Play Console, App Bundles, ProGuard/R8
