Physical Designer 1 – Grid (Bilingual Spanish/English)

About the role

We are seeking a Physical Designer 1 to join our Grid team, working on high‑voltage substation and telecommunications projects. The role blends detailed drafting with network architecture design, supporting mission‑critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare substation General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Section Views, Bill of Materials, Lightning Shielding, Grounding, Conduit, and Below‑Grade Raceway drawings.
• Develop network architecture designs based on TDM, SONET, IP/MPLS and related standards.
• Create network and channel diagrams, perform timing studies, and design fail‑safe systems with redundancy.
• Incorporate vendor information into deliverables, conduct walk‑downs at client sites, and apply client standards.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecommunications or substation physical design.
• Associate degree in Drafting, CAD, or equivalent technical experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (spoken, read, written).
• Ability to visualize equipment clearances and 3‑D parts without computer aid.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design tools.
• Knowledge of TDM, SONET, IP/MPLS network design principles.
• Experience with telecommunications systems (radio, fiber optics, network engineering).
• Strong multi‑tasking ability across multiple projects.
