Mechanical Design Engineer Internship (Extracurricular)

About the role

Join an interdisciplinary team at Bosch’s Ovar site to design mechanical solutions for sensors used in advanced fire detection systems. You will be involved from concept creation through development, production launch and end‑of‑life, ensuring the highest reliability for life‑saving products.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for sensor modules, focusing on plastics and sheet‑metal parts.
• Develop product concepts, create detailed CAD models and drawings, and support the transition to series production.
• Apply model‑based engineering methods, run simulations and conduct reliability tests.
• Perform statistical tolerance analysis and analyse field data to validate product performance.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of plastic part design and, preferably, sheet‑metal design and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CREO and PDMLink (or comparable CAD/PDM tools) and familiarity with SAP‑based product data management.
• Analytical mindset, structured problem‑solving approach and eagerness to learn.
