Mechanical Construction Manager – Data Centre Piping Packages (Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to lead piping packages on a data centre construction project. The position is a freelance assignment based in the Lisbon region, starting in September and lasting 18‑24 months.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) and constructability studies.
• Conduct site preparation, walk‑arounds and ensure readiness for mechanical works.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and Director on reporting and planning to enable early site mobilisation.
• Oversee mechanical and piping scopes, ensuring compliance with client standards and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and contractors on‑site to drive progress and resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in the construction industry with a strong mechanical/piping background.
• 5+ years in construction management, preferably on large‑scale industrial projects.
• Experience in process industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, power or petrochemical.
• Previous work as a contractor or sub‑contractor on‑site.
• Fluent English and willing to work onsite in Portugal.
