K9 Handler – Explosive Detection Dog Operations

About the role

The K9 Handler will work with an explosive detection dog to screen cargo in compliance with TSA regulations. The role includes extensive training, field deployments, and maintaining the canine’s welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a 4‑8 week team training and certification program before deployment.
• Conduct cargo screening using X‑Ray, physical searches, and trace detection techniques.
• Operate as the authorized representative for X‑Ray and detection equipment.
• Maintain accurate training records for both handler and canine.
• Provide daily care, feeding, and climate‑controlled housing for the assigned canine at the employee’s residence.
• Travel to assigned locations, operate a company vehicle, and perform duties in varied weather conditions.
• Adhere to all security clearances, certifications, and TSA requirements.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship for at least three years.
• 1‑2 years documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational setting.
• Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number, SIDA badge, and Security Threat Assessment within 4‑6 weeks of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record and a REAL ID‑compliant license or U.S. passport.
• Reliable, climate‑controlled transportation for the canine and crate.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and in inclement weather.
