Junior Application Support Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Application Support Engineer to join our team in Porto on a hybrid basis. You will be part of Decskill’s IT consulting practice, providing day‑to‑day support for mission‑critical applications and ensuring their availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor production applications and infrastructure using tools such as Zabbix or Grafana, and respond to incidents promptly.
• Administer Linux and Windows servers, including user management, patches and backups.
• Execute and troubleshoot batch jobs with Control‑M or similar schedulers.
• Perform basic SQL queries and resolve database‑related issues across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and Sybase.
• Support application servers (JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IIS) and maintain related configurations.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts in Shell, Python or PowerShell.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve system stability and implement DevOps best practices.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in application support or a comparable role.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
• Good English communication skills (minimum B2).
