Field Service Technician – Commercial Security Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Field Service Technician to join our commercial security team. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing a range of security solutions across your assigned area, ensuring systems operate reliably for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to service calls within guaranteed response times and restore system functionality.
• Install security systems—including access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarms, infant protection and intercom—following Tech Systems Installation Standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to correctly configure equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and identify manufacturer revisions or upgrades.
• Update tickets in the service and project tracking system and communicate status with Customer Service Representatives.
• Accurately manage company inventory and resources.
• Assist with additional technical support issues as directed by the Regional Manager or executive staff.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years experience in commercial security systems installation or service.
• One year experience programming access control and video systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and follow safety regulations.

Required skills

• Networking fundamentals.
• Programming access control and video surveillance systems.
• Blueprint and schematic interpretation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Smartsheet.
• Understanding of IP‑based security system best practices.
• Relevant security system certifications (factory or internal).
