Engineering Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

Abbott is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering department at its CRM medical‑devices facility in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The role is responsible for defining and executing short‑, medium‑ and long‑term engineering strategies, upgrading and optimizing manufacturing processes, and providing technical support to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop departmental objectives, conduct annual employee reviews and report performance metrics.
• Manage the departmental budget to meet business commitments.
• Provide technical direction on product and process issues, collaborating with Divisional Technical Service, Process Development and R&D.
• Monitor product key‑metric trends (scrap, downtime) and create action plans.
• Organize, track and report technical projects and risk‑management activities.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading manufacturing engineering teams in a medical‑device or related environment.
• Strong ability to develop and monitor budgets and performance measures.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with a focus on process optimization.
• Effective communication with cross‑functional teams including R&D, technical services and operations.
