Data Engineering Associate

About the role

Metyis is seeking a Data Engineering Associate to join its global Data & Analytics team at the Digital Campus in Porto. The role involves end‑to‑end data handling, from acquisition and cleaning to integration, analysis and visualization, working closely with senior stakeholders and data scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose data‑related problems, develop hypotheses and implement solutions.
• Process structured and unstructured data and perform ETL activities.
• Develop automated, scalable data processing code.
• Design, build and maintain data solutions for client projects.
• Collaborate with data science, reporting and product development teams.
• Communicate with executive‑level clients and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in data engineering.
• Graduate degree or higher with coursework in programming or data analytics.
• Strong logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or Scala.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Understanding of big‑data concepts.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Familiarity with GIT and CI/CD pipelines.
