AI Tooling and Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

This position sits within HPE Networking’s Training and Documentation organization. You will help build and operate the AI‑driven infrastructure that powers content generation, search, QA, and avatar‑led training for technical documentation. The role is focused on integrating and productionising existing large language models rather than conducting research.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and run infrastructure that embeds LLMs into internal tools and customer‑facing products.
• Evaluate, implement, and maintain third‑party AI platforms, managing vendor relationships where needed.
• Develop custom pipelines, orchestration layers, retrieval systems, evaluation harnesses, and monitoring solutions when off‑the‑shelf tools are insufficient.
• Own operational reliability of AI‑powered services, including uptime, latency, cost, and observability.
• Implement guardrails for cost control, rate limits, prompt/version management, and failure handling.
• Collaborate with documentation and training teams to translate use cases into maintainable systems.
• Set up comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for AI services.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and operating production AI infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of LLM integration via vendor APIs or self‑hosted solutions.
• Ability to design reliable, scalable pipelines and services.
• Experience working with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver AI‑enabled features.
