Academic Internship in Mechanical or Materials Engineering

About the role

Join Bosch Car Multimedia’s research team in Braga for a full‑time academic internship focused on mechanical and materials engineering. You will investigate failure mechanisms of System‑in‑Package (SIP) modules, a critical technology used across Bosch’s automotive products.

Key responsibilities

• Review literature and internal Bosch documents on SIP reliability.
• Collect and analyse data from multiple Bosch plants.
• Apply Model‑Based Engineering (MBE) to study thermal‑mechanical loads and their impact on material and design choices.
• Develop design rules and manufacturing recommendations to mitigate failures such as pad cratering, non‑wetting and hot tear.
• Use simulation tools to predict load paths and support design decisions.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Mechanical or Materials Engineering degree program (academic level).
• Strong knowledge of material properties and thermal‑mechanical damage mechanisms.
• Basic experience in experimental design and data analysis.
• Interest in automotive electronics and manufacturing processes.
