Wellness Counselor

About the role

Cognizant is seeking a Wellness Counselor to join its Global Wellness team. The role focuses on delivering evidence‑based mental health and wellbeing programs for associates, ensuring psychological safety is a top priority.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver at least monthly group counseling sessions and individual coaching.
• Provide crisis intervention, conduct crisis assessments, and coordinate with external Employee Assistance Program providers when needed.
• Design and lead trainings, screenings, surveys, and health‑risk assessments.
• Participate in staff and leadership meetings, manage cases, and consult with the program manager.
• Collaborate with internal and external colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary mental‑health team.
• Maintain operational reports and track performance‑evaluation processes.
• Assess organizational health status to identify employee risk factors.
• Lead initiatives that support physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of associates.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in employee wellbeing, public health education, health & wellness benefits, or a related field.
• Certification or license with the Ordem dos Psicólogos de Portugal (OPP) to conduct individual and group counseling.
• Experience in crisis‑management program planning and prevention.
• Proven ability to lead and facilitate wellness classes or groups.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
• High level of confidentiality, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
