Mechanical Construction Manager

About the role

Winthrop Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to join its expanding team in Portugal. This site‑based position will play a key part in delivering complex mechanical building services for major data‑centre projects, reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication with the client and all project stakeholders.
• Prepare and implement method statements and risk assessments for mechanical construction activities, ensuring HVAC deliverables meet quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate mechanical installations, including pipework, to align with programme milestones.
• Manage the commercial aspects of the project from handover through technical procurement of equipment, specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
• Document and cost scope changes, prepare monthly valuations and contribute to the final account.
• Monitor the two‑week look‑ahead programme and ensure labour resources are planned and mobilised.
• Oversee subcontractor activities on site, maintaining high workmanship and quality standards.
• Identify, document and notify any variations or delays.
• Verify that all plant and materials delivered meet specifications and are handled safely.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and governance requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in a mechanical‑related discipline or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in a Mechanical Construction Manager or similar role within an M&E contracting environment.
• Strong organisational, communication and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple work fronts in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven site environment.
