Electrical Engineer – Solar PV Design (Porto)

About the role

Universal Kraft group is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join its Porto office. You will focus on designing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial and utility‑scale projects, contributing to the company’s expanding renewable‑energy portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design solar PV systems based on project requirements, site conditions and client specifications.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate installation feasibility and gather data for design.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
• Perform shading analysis, optimise system performance and produce single‑line diagrams.
• Prepare technical documentation, including electrical diagrams, material lists and installation plans.
• Support grid‑connection reviews, ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE and other relevant standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to deliver cost‑effective, high‑quality designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail, reliability and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Fluent English; additional languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese) are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst or Helioscope for PV system design.
• Solid knowledge of photovoltaic systems, electrical design principles and relevant codes (NEC, IEEE).
• Experience with grid‑connection processes, single‑line diagrams, LV/MV design.
• Familiarity with electrical simulation tools such as ETAP or DIgSILENT.
