API and Integration Architect – Distributed Cloud

About the role

Devoteam is looking for an experienced API and Integration Architect to lead the design and implementation of API‑first solutions within its Distributed Cloud practice. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across EMEA to create consistent, secure, and scalable APIs that drive digital transformation for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Promote an API‑first design approach and define clear functional requirements.
• Design APIs, produce specifications in YAML/JSON, and ensure consistency across the API portfolio.
• Prevent API sprawl by establishing standards, security setups, rate limiting, error handling, and versioning.
• Choose appropriate architectural styles (REST, GraphQL, SOAP) and data formats (JSON, XML).
• Define base URLs, service endpoints, and API products.
• Train team members on API best practices and governance.

Required profile

• Expert knowledge of modern architectural patterns such as SOA, microservices, and event‑driven design.
• Deep understanding of synchronous (REST) and asynchronous (Kafka, WebSockets) communication techniques.
• Proven experience creating high‑quality API documentation and enforcing governance.
• Familiarity with enterprise‑grade API management platforms (Apigee, Mulesoft, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway).
• Experience with high‑performance gateways like IBM API Connect, IBM DataPower, or SAP Process Orchestration.
