Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our consulting team on a long‑term hybrid assignment in Portugal. You will work on digital transformation and energy transition projects, providing independent assurance across finance, sales, projects and compliance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, plan and execute audits in various business areas, including finance, sales, projects and compliance.
• Design and customise audit programmes to reflect local processes and controls.
• Document audit work and findings thoroughly, ensuring clear evidence trails.
• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of management, process and financial controls.
• Discuss audit results and risks with process owners and senior management.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports with practical, cost‑effective recommendations.
• Prioritise issues based on impact and collaborate with auditees to implement solutions.
• Develop expertise in critical business processes and subject‑matter areas.

Required profile

• 4‑5+ years of experience in internal or external audit.
• Degree in economics, business administration or a related field; CPA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
• Experience working with international clients or within an international audit department.
• Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and financial controls.
• Ability to place detailed findings within a broader control context.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with senior finance, sales and operations leaders.
• Team‑oriented mindset, willingness to travel and fluency in English.
