Head of Finance

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Finance Service to lead and transform finance operations within a new Global Business Services (GBS) hub in Porto. This senior leadership position will ensure high‑quality, compliant, and efficient finance services across multiple geographies while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end finance service delivery and ensure performance against SLAs, KPIs, and customer satisfaction targets.
• Own period‑end close activities with accuracy and timeliness, acting as escalation point for operational issues.
• Maintain strong governance frameworks, compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive standardisation, simplification and best‑practice adoption through Lean, Six Sigma, RPA and other digital tools.
• Collaborate with IT and GPOs on system enhancements and operating model improvements.
• Build relationships with senior finance stakeholders globally and provide strategic performance visibility.
• Manage service delivery costs, monitor productivity, and identify cost‑optimisation opportunities.
• Lead, develop and coach a high‑performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in finance, shared services or GBS environments.
• Proven leadership in large‑scale, international organisations with a track record of finance transformation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, controls and compliance.
• Experience working in matrix and global settings.
• Strategic thinker with strong execution capability and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
• Fluent in English.
