Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its Corporate, Employment and Litigation Division in Luxembourg. You will act as the EIB’s legal representative before the Court of Justice of the European Union and provide specialist advice on institutional and EU law matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft legal notes, opinions and advice on complex institutional, transparency, anti‑fraud and staff‑related issues.
• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Conduct legal research and produce studies on EU law topics relevant to the division.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Monitor legal developments and build relationships with external legal advisers.

Required profile

• University degree in law (Bachelor minimum, Master preferred); Master’s in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within EU institutions or an internationally recognised law firm.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are distinct advantages.
• Excellent command of English and/or French.
• Proficiency with standard computer tools and familiarity with EU legal databases.
