Junior DevOps Engineer – Remote (Portugal)

About the role

We are a leading consumer platform in Germany looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our remote team in Portugal. You will combine software development with system operations to build, automate, and improve the infrastructure that powers our product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Ansible, Docker and AWS.
• Develop internal automation tools and scripts in Python or Bash for deployments, monitoring and data workflows.
• Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and fast releases.
• Manage MySQL databases, including backups, performance tuning and query optimization.
• Operate and optimise Linux‑based servers, on‑premise Proxmox clusters and cloud resources.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions (e.g., Grafana, New Relic) to ensure high availability.
• Strengthen security and compliance through firewall management, system hardening and access controls.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Data Science and Product teams to support data pipelines and deployment workflows.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu) and shell scripting.
• Good understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs and reverse proxies.
• Hands‑on experience with at least some of the following: Ansible, Docker, Git, CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash for scripting and automation.
• Experience with or strong interest in MySQL administration and performance tuning.
• DevOps mindset focused on automation, reproducibility and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and communicate effectively in English.
