Accountant

About the role

iBASIS is seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Accountant to join its finance team within a leading telecommunications carrier. The role focuses on managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting accurate financial reporting for Europe and the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in month‑end and year‑end close processes, reconcile accounts and analyse variances and trends.
• Create and import journal entries.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, collaborating with other departments to gather financial data.
• Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions and other general ledger accounts.
• Support external audit by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and corporate income tax.
• Evaluate and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Assist with special projects, financial analysis and ad‑hoc reporting as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
• Experience in month‑end, year‑end, budgeting and tax compliance processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
